We recognize the sensitivities raised by the current conflict in the region and understand the genuine concerns expressed by many.
We are deeply saddened by the loss of innocent lives, wherever they may be, and hope for a swift resolution to all conflicts.
We would like to express our position:
- Teva is a global healthcare and biopharmaceutical company with over 90% of its operations and workforce located outside of Israel.
- Teva is solely focused on healthcare through access to quality medicines.
- Teva is not a political organization and does not provide financial or political support to the Israeli government or defense forces.
- Teva does not invest in, develop, or fund weapons systems, surveillance technologies, or any technologies outside the field of healthcare.
- Although Teva Pharmaceutical Industries was founded in Israel more than a century ago, today we are a global biopharmaceutical company with 37,000 employees in 55 countries and three headquarters: in the US, the Netherlands and Israel.
- Teva has no production/commercial sites or activities in the occupied territories.
- Approximately 85% of Teva products sold in Belgium originate from production and distribution centres in Europe.
- Less than 2% of Teva's global revenue comes from Israel; 98% of global revenue is taxed in other regions – primarily the United States and Europe – where it contributes to local economies. Profits in Israel are taxed according to Israeli law, over which Teva has no influence on government spending.
- Teva provides medication to Gaza through the independent non-profit organization Direct Relief.
- Any boycott of pharmaceutical products could harm access to essential medicines for millions of patients worldwide.
